Humble - 1. Consciousness of one's shortcomings; not proud; not self-assertive. 2.low in rank, position; lowly; unimportant; unpretentious.
This is Webster's definition of humble. As Christians, how often do we come before God in true humbleness? We are all guilty and fall short of this, one of the truest forms of worship. I believe Webster's definition is in total agreement with the biblical definition regarding where your heart needs to be with God as one humbles oneself before Him. We have to completely acknowledge our desperate need for Him in every aspect of our lives. In Matt. 5:3, Jesus refers to the poor in spirit who choose this discipline of attitude. Repent - Christians are all very familiar with the word repent. It means to completely turn from sin and live for God. Hmm...turning from sin. How many times can you remember saying, "I'll never do that again", regarding a sin in your life and really follow through with it? If you've truly humbled yourself before God, then you should feel His presence. When you fully repent with all your heart in His mighty presence, your heart will be changed. Your joy will be full as you gladly and willingly live for God. Making a practice of humbling and repenting brings about a broken and contrite heart. It is a very rich discipline.to be practiced daily.I do warn you to be quick to confess your sins in naming all that you can in deed, word and attitude before a blanket covering of what you don't remember. Do this on a daily basis and don't allow Satan that foothold back in your life. Be blessed...........Mary
